Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. When I was growing up, my mother had a desk almost exactly like that one, but it was smaller, and we loved getting into it and seeing what was in there. When I left home she gave me that much loved desk. It traveled over a lot of the States on our many moves. When my daughter married nine years ago, she asked if she could have that desk, and she and her husband loaded it into the back of their hatchback with several other things and it has lived ther ever since. She refinished it and replaced a foot. It has only sentimental value, but she loves that desk as much as I did, and still do. She has no daughter to pass it on to, but perhaps in the future when her son or one of the other grandchildren leave their homes, that desk will make another journey. Mom never had a chair for the desk because she was always in motion. For her it was a place to store stamps, pens, stationary, bills, odds and ends. But heaven forbid! She could not bring herself to sit at it, when the kitchen table was comfortable and had a coffee pot nearby when she wrote bills and letters. It was such fun seeing the lovely desk and chair in the picture. It brought back many happy memories.

    1. Those are great memories! Thanks for sharing them. I have always adored this style of desk. I’ve yet to own one as I have a perfectly functional old desk now 🙂
