Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. Once again I am obsessed with the artist’s amazing skill. The way the fabrics fall and drape, the outline of the body underneath. The colors are so beautiful, and I love that little foot stool. I have never seen anything like it. Only Miss Bingley would meditate with a mirror in her hand, or perhaps Lady Susan, or Lydia. I love the title for this too; it is playful and gently mocking. We have Memorial Day weekend coming up, and my son will be helping me pull some small bushes from the patio, and plant some flowers. It seems like such a good time to do it, because it will be too hot if we wait much longer. Time is flying by so quickly that it will be snowing before we know it!

    1. He is just so good! I find the mirror to go so well symbolically with the name of the painting as a mirror is used for seeing a reflection and meditating can be very reflective. 🙂

We got rid of some bushes on Monday (Victoria Day) but did not get to planting anything new. That will have to be on another weekend. 🙂

Oh, a friend of mine from high school shared this link with me to her sister’s art portfolio, and I thought you might enjoy looking at some of the paintings and drawings. They are excellent. In fact, they look like photographs, but they aren’t. 🙂 This is her portfolio of work http://www.pamelaedevold.com/portfolio.html

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend!

  2. Leenie those are excellent, and absolutely stunning. I am saving that link so I can look at them again. This artist should be someone everyone is talking about: what an amazing talent. Thank you for sharing. That portfolio would make a wonderful future post for a Wordless Wednesday. It would certainly generate a lot of words!
