Leenie Brown

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. What a lovely painting, and what a gorgeous library. Mister Darcy might have had a bigger library, but it could not have been any more pleasing to the eye than this one. My son frequents a site where they periodically show what they call library porn! The University libraries are particularly stunning. One of my favorites was in Ireland, and once they had a video. You could almost smell the leather bound volumes, and feel the pages. I don’t think they have ever shown any private libraries, but if they did, this one could hold its own. Could anyone forget the library at Hogwarts, or the NY Public Library, immortalized in Ghostbusters? My two boys have taken a day trip to NYC more than a few times, and the library was their favorite destination. They went every time. No proton packs, but all of my kids are readers, and they know their way around a good library. 😊 My grandchildren all have shelves of books and read omnivorously as well. I remember when my kids were teenagers one of their friends was at the house, and he seemed shocked that there were books in every room, except the bathrooms of course. For years he told everyone that we were a nice family, but we had too many books. Can there be such a thing?

    1. Oh, that is a funny story about your kids’ friend. 🙂 I love libraries — they are such magical places filled with so much knowledge and adventure! I worked in our college library for a few years during my time at that school. It wasn’t very big, but it was still enjoyable to wander through the stacks and shelve books. Both my children read, but I have to say our at home library is small as I continually cull it and pass the books on to various charities that run thrift stores. I have developed some sensitivities over the years, and as much as I love books, the dust and even just the ink that is used in some will sometimes cause me to react, so ebooks are such a blessing for me. 🙂 When my father and youngest sister came for a visit a couple of summers ago, we took them to the new Central Library here in Halifax. It was one of the day trips that we took which my sons insisted on being part of. 🙂
