Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. Something has been lost in the art world in the last hundred years or more. Very few people can get the colors, the faces and the material so realistic. These are so beautiful; the skin is soft, the colors leap off the canvas. You would almost swear that you hear the material rustling as she bends over to hear what is going on. The jewelry is always so delicately painted in, and she looks so proper except for the eavesdropping. If her hair was a different color, and she looked less pleasant, I would think it was Miss Bingley!

  2. I am stunned at the artist’s use of light in this picture. I’ve rarely seen it used to this degree. Man, I agree… I am amazed at this picture. Now, what could Caroline be listening to that would please her to this degree? Perhaps… Darcy saying he needed a wife?

  3. You know, we have a quote in Germany: is this art or is it for the bin? THIS painting truly is art at its very best. I think she’s eavesdropping at her suitor speaking to her father😂😂 to be Caroline she should have red hair and wear a bunte orange frock. Just to clash with the curtains 😉
