Just Wanted You to Know (Hunter Brothers)

I thought this song title was appropriate since I just wanted you to know about a major shift in my writing life.

I think it was back in 2019…

I had spent a weekend reading (and not sleeping as much as I should have due to books 🙂 )

and I was getting ready on a tired Monday morning to “go to work” (meaning walk the few feet from my bedroom to my living room “office” and start putting in my six or so hours of work time),

that I was listening to some country music and one of my favourite groups, the Hunter Brothers, popped up in the playlist. I can’t tell you what song of theirs I was listening to but I can tell you that it was one of their songs when…

the seed of an idea for a new series took root in my imagination. (The series will revolve around five brothers, and a sister, and the Hunter Brothers are five brothers — that’s where that number came from. I’m telling you ideas can come from the oddest places for me.)

It’s now 2021 and time for that seed of an idea to soon poke its head out of the soil and into the bright light of day. (Wow, talk about scary. LOL)

I’ll share more about what is coming as things get closer to sprouting, but for today, I wanted you to know that this new project (which will be published under a new pen name because it will be a new nonJAFF genre) is going to require a lot of my time. It’s been brewing on the side burner for a while but now is being moved to that big front right-hand burner I favour. 🙂 (Does anyone else have a favourite burner on their stove? Or is that just me being weird again? LOL)

As much as I love them, Music Mondays and Wordless Wednesdays are going away. Will it be forever? I don’t know. But it honestly might be. 🙁 That really does make me sad. However, they take several hours to put together (because I’m kind of obsessive about trying to find just the right song or picture to go with a particular story), and I need that time to push this next phase of my writing career out into the world.

I don’t expect Leenie to be going away, although she will become noticeably less prolific 🙂 and her blog will become a little quieter.

I’ve started a new website that is just in the beginning stages of being put together. This site will link my company, Leenie B Books, with both pen names. Curious to see what that new pen name will be and what she’ll be writing? Here’s the link to the new central site with its limited amount of information. It will get filled in with more over time.

If you have questions about this new venture of mine, drop them in the comments. I’ll answer what I can. (Honestly, there are still a lot of unknowns even for me.)

On Wednesday, as a final Wednesday post, I’ll be sharing a short excerpt from the first draft of the new pen name’s book, as well as a few details about the series.

Next Tuesday (Aug 10), I will start sharing Tom Bertram’s story as a Sweet Tuesdays story. I hope you’ll read along with that.

Until next time,

Happy Reading!

Leenie Brown

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. Best wishes to you in your new writing venture. I can hardly wait to see what that fertile imagination of yours produces. 💗

  2. Best wishes on your new venture. I hope you don’t give up JAFF entirely. I only recently discovered the genre and adore Pride and Prejudice variations. I have just joined your Patreon so I can read your past stories.

  3. It doesn’t matter what name you post under… you will always have your fan base. We are VERY faithful and will follow you where ever you go. Just saying. By the way… I like the new name. It’s rather catchy. Thanks for sharing and it is fine that you are cutting back on the postings. You need that time away. No worries. We’ll be glad to hear from you when ever you want to post. Just don’t forget us. Blessings on your new venture and I look forward to reading your new work.

    1. Aw, thanks for your support, J.W. That means a lot. And I could never forget you. 🙂

Just like Leenie, the new name is a rearranging of letters in my name, and I included my middle and maiden names in the creation process. I’m glad you like it. It still feels weird to think of myself as another name. LOL
