KU changes top the list of important info this week

Welcome to the weekend. 🙂 There’s a lot of news this week. So, grab a cup of something refreshing or warming and settle in for a few minutes of reading. (There’s a link to a preview of a new story in one of the sections below — cleverly hidden under the heading Story Preview. 😀 )

Writing Life

This week did not progress as I had expected it to because we got snow on three days, and on two of those days, it was enough to require shoveling / snowblowing. That activity really cut into my productivity as it took time and used muscles that were not used to that sort of usage. LOL The snowblower is new, and this week was the first time I have used it. However, I still managed to write one chapter for two of my stories:

  1. Matching Mr. Darcy (the bright new shiny story I told you about last week)
  2. Cherishing Kitty (This is the one that did not get a new chapter as I think that the last chapter I wrote for it, might actually be the end and the next chapter is the beginning of Georgiana’s story. This calls for a reread and a think before moving on.)
  3. His Irreplaceable Belle

Book Review

This week, I have a portion of a longer review for you. You can find the read the full review at this link

Since this blog post is getting long, I’m going to try to keep my comments on this short this week and pick out a favourite sentence from the portion of this review shared above.

“Since it was a novella, it moved quickly, although it didn’t feel rushed.”

I’m a novella, novelette, and short story reader and lover. However, I do know that they are not always paced properly and can feel rushed. So, to hear that while this story moved quickly (as a novella should) but did not feel rushed is awesome. I must be doing something right. 🙂

Thank you, J.W. Garrett, for reading and reviewing this book.

Something Extra for Last

I thought this week I would share three things about other romances by some author friends:

  1. I saw that Regina Jeffers has a book that is free until February 16, 2020. This book is called His Irish Eve. “When the Earl of Greenwall demands his only son, Lord Stafford, retrieve the viscount’s by-blow, everything in Adam Lawrences’s life of dissipation changes.” Please note that this book is not a sweet read. It is steamy. So, if you don’t want to read intimate scenes, this book is not for you.
  2. I just downloaded a new Austen-Inspired novelette called Their Secret Love by Renata McMann and Summer Hanford. “What if Mr. Darcy expected Elizabeth to approve when he issued his infamous insult at the dance?” I haven’t read it yet but hope to do so this weekend.
  3. Zoe Burton has just added her Pride and Prejudice and Racecars Series to Kindle Unlimited just in time for the beginning of the NASCAR racing season. (Daytona is on Sunday!) These are modern Pride and Prejudice stories.

Leenie Brown

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. I loved the book reviews. However, I am not familiar with Cherishing Kitty unless this is where she is grappling with her feelings for Lorcan.

  2. Ah, thank you, Leenie, for featuring my review. Congratulations on all you writing news and promotions. This has been fun.

    1. You’re welcome. Thanks for all your reviews. 🙂 I plan on trying several different promotions this year to learn about how they work and which give a better return on investment and all that. I’m just always interested in learning (pretty sure it is the teacher in me lol).

    1. I wish I could tell you for certain how much she will feature in this story, but it’s too early for that. I know how much you love Mary Bennet. 🙂
