Music Monday: Let it Go/Vivaldi’s Winter (The Piano Guys)

Happy New Year’s Eve!

It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. Today, I’m going to take a little look back at 2018 as we “Let Her Go.” ( 🙂 I do love a good pun!)

It was a busy year!

Let’s begin by looking at the Class of 2018 books. 🙂 I have included the month in which they were published for those who might be curious about that sort of detail.

To go with this peek at the Class of 2018, I have created a quick three-question survey.  I would love it if you would take a minute and answer these questions. I’ll post the results of the survey next week.

Recently published does not equal 2018 bestseller. The bestsellers for the year are on this graphic. Some of the new releases made the cut, but not all.

Here’s another interesting statistic from the year:

At the time of my writing this post on Saturday, December 29, 2018, my yearly word count total is

327,242 words

But…there is still today, and I am hoping to find time to write a little bit. I did not finish the fourth installment of Loving Lydia on Friday. I only got part way through it before I had to stop for the night. It needs to be done.

Speaking of Loving Lydia, it will be the first Thursday blog story of the year, and it starts posting this Thursday!

In that same vein of thought, you might like to know that Delighting Mrs. Bennet, which is the book that comes right before Loving Lydia in the Marrying Elizabeth series, is scheduled to be published NEXT Thursday, January 10, 2019, and will be the first book published in 2019. Preorder details should be arriving soon, I hope. (I still need to work on a few things for this.)

I am still working on Tom: To Secure His Legacy. This book will be the first book posted on Patreon for 2019 and hopefully, will be the second book published. (Fingers crossed — well, yours not mine. Typing is too difficult when you cross your fingers. LOL)

I have some other plans that I am trying to get nailed down better as this year ends and a new one begins. Hopefully, I will be able to share some of those plans with you in next Monday’s post.

For now, I will leave you with a small excerpt from Tom’s story (which I did not get to write on very much this week due to holidays and my husband being off work).

THE LAST STORY EXCERPT FOR 2018, from Tom: To Secure His Legacy

Tom drew his horse to a stop. “Miss Eldridge?” He had not expected to see her in this section of town. Nor had he expected to see her dressed more like a maid than the lady of quality he knew her to be. However, she had been dressed as a gentleman when he first met her.

“Mr. Bertram.” Miss Eldridge dipped a shallow curtsey.

“You are far from home.” He slid down from his horse.

“Indeed, I am. As are you.”

Apparently, she did not wish to tell him why she was here. He could see it in how she shifted and would not meet his eyes.

“I was calling on Mr. Durward. He hopes to add something to our venture.” That caught her attention and stopped her from looking anxiously up and down the street. “He hopes to add a storefront.”

Her brow furrowed while her lovely lips pinched together.

“Does the investment still meet your approval?”

She sighed. “So many do not pay their bills.”

She said it so softly that Tom was not certain if she was talking to herself or had meant to include him in her thoughts.

“But the profit margin is higher.”

She shook her head. “There are employees to pay.”

“There are employees in a warehouse as well, and a merchant might not make good on his promise to pay.”

She blew out a breath. “It is your money.”

“But do you approve?” Tom was not certain why he felt such a compulsion to hear her say she approved of his decision to be part of this venture. It was likely because she understood numbers better than he did.

She shrugged. It was not the vote of confidence for which he had hoped.

“I will give it a bit more thought, but I suppose there is no more risk in it now than there was before.” She shook her head. “No, no. I do not need to think any longer. It is a fine idea. Should you lose part or all of the money you are using, it will not harm your estate.” She pulled her lower lip between her teeth as her brow furrowed again. “Although it will not help it either,” she added.

“I trust Mr. Durward.”

She smiled at him. “Of course, you do. I should have considered that. You can tell me the particulars when next we speak, but I must be going.” She dipped another small curtsey and then scurried away.

Tom watched with curiosity as she stopped at a house and knocked on the door of a house before opening the door herself and entering.

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. What an interesting excerpt. It is amazing how you can throw out a few tips here and there and yet not tell us a lot. Sneaky. I have a lot of questions about this lady. Wow! I have enjoyed seeing Tom in the other stories and have been biting my nails… em… waiting to read his story. I really like this guy. Speaking of guys… these Piano Guys are awesome. I loved that music video. Thank you for choosing that selection here at the end of the year. Blessings on you and your hard work.

  2. I have fallen behind in my reading. This excerpt makes me want to catch up. This young woman is very interesting!

    1. Miss Eldridge (Faith) is a very independent sort of lady with a keen mind and a good heart. She’s been quite fun to get to know as I have been writing. I’m happy to here you have found her interesting here — Tom has, too. 😀

  3. Totally enjoyed the Piano music guys! What an intriguing excerpt. Miss Eldridge Is smart with numbers as well as other things. Tom appears interested but is afraid.

    1. He is interested, but he has some things to work through before he can realize that he’s more than interested. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the excerpt.
