The Saturday Broadsheet, with all my writing life updates, is now available at the link at the bottom of this short post.

In this issue of the Broadsheet you will find:

  • Info about what will be posting at Patreon, starting next Friday
  • Info about the two books I have on sale for $0.99 this month and one boxset that is on sale for this weekend only.
  • Info about some other books, which are not mine, that are either free or on sale.
  • And in the something interesting section at the end of the newsletter you will find, a video that has been paired with an excerpt from one of the books in the boxset I have on sale this weekend.

Have a great weekend!

I hope you have time to read a book.

I’ll be back on Thursday with a new chapter of His Inconvenient Choice.

  1. Leenie,

Sorry to hear about your issues with Covid-19! What is chemical sensitivity? Did you get the vaccine? I know some people didn’t, and I am not judging. There are two scientists in my family, so I engaged with them about the issues. I got tired of the politics. They made more sense. Since I have three problems and wear a mask when I clean my apartment, I got the vaccine and booster. My cousin didn’t and now has wear an oxygen tank for the rest of her life. I am praying for everyone to get healed. House plants are great air purifiers!

I am praying that you get your energy back so that you can write. I know what it’s like to not have the energy to do what you love doing. I will put your name in our prayer circle!

    1. Thanks, Joan! I appreciate the prayers and concern.

Having multiple chemical sensitivities just means that I react to various chemicals in my environment (man-made and natural) that most people tolerate without any negative symptoms. For me, a variety of things can trigger a reaction, including food, cleaning products, natural essential oils, personal care items, fragrance, etc. My reactions can include fatigue, numbness/weakness, muscle spasms, brain fog/slower mental processing times, nausea/gastrointestinal symptoms, headaches, an overall sense of malaise, tears for no reason, amongst other things. My immune system seems hypersensitive.

Here’s how multiple chemical sensitivities was described to me when I was first diagnosed at an environmental clinic (which I was at because my autonomic nervous system was doing weird things like making my blood pressure drop when I was exercising):

They told me to imagine that every person has a rain barrel inside of them that collects toxins from their environment. Things like lack of sleep, stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, air pollution, and the like add to the barrel all the time. For most people, they have a barrel that takes things in and releases/disposes of them effectively and through proper channels in the body. But for people like me, my rain barrel stays full up to the rim instead of emptying as it should or just containing the toxins inside the barrel. Therefore, when new toxins show up, this may cause the contents of my rain barrel to spill out and create a mess (aka a reaction).

Knowing this, I can take some measures to help my body deal with things – reduce stress, prioritize sleep, eat well, get exercise and sunshine, and so on.

I did get both doses of the vaccine and suffered a period of illness after each – the second dose caused the most symptoms. As you can imagine, based on my sensitivities issues, I did not get them without careful consideration, learning all I could before hand, and taking precautions to make sure my body was as well-prepared for each vaccine as it could be. However, I still got covid. I had not gotten the booster yet (that second dose did a number on me so I was in no rush to have that repeated lol), but one of my sons who had gotten the booster, also still got covid. So, I don’t think the booster would have helped with whatever variant we contracted.

I’ve been doing some research about how to best deal with these lingering symptoms and am working on doing what I can based on that and what I’ve learned from the environmental clinic on managing my sensitivities. It’s just going to take some time I think. (Though I’d rather it be a quick fix 😉 )

Thanks again for your prayers and concern,
      Leenie
