TSB: My Writing News and Adding Beauty to my Social Media

Can you believe this is the final Saturday of May? That means we have almost survived another month of 2020. 🙂 At times, it feels like time is dragging, but then, I immerse myself into my work, and, when I look up, I’m surprised at how much time has passed. I hope you are finding ways to make 2020 enjoyable and find the beauty in life despite any restrictions which still remain where you are. Below, is an update on the enjoyable, writing-related things that take up a large portion of each of my days. 🙂  And at the end, as my something extra, I have included one way I am attempting to add beauty to my life on social media.

Writing News

I don’t have any excerpts of writing to share with you this week because I don’t want to give anything away in either story that I am writing. So, this will be a short and kind of boring 🙂 update on how my works in progress are progressing.

In my writing time, so far, I have written one chapter each of Protecting Miss Darcy and Her Convenient Forever. I’m actually planning to get one more chapter of Protecting Miss Darcy before the week is over.

In my editing time, I have begun working my way through Matching Mr. Darcy. Once I get through it once, I will send it off to my sister for her read through, and after that, it will be ready for final round edits and proofreading. I also have a cover started for this story. I hope that in a week or so, I will have things at a point where I put it on preorder and set a publication date.

And that is it. I told you it was short — not that those few things haven’t kept me very busy. 🙂

This book is the first in the Choices Series. I wrote it way back in 2015! And I still enjoy revisiting it. Here’s what the book is about:

Sometimes a father knows what is best for his child.

At least Mr. Bennet trusts he does. Seeing the potential of a good match for his beloved Lizzy but knowing her ability to hold a grudge, he puts a plan into action that forces a marriage between Darcy and Elizabeth.

Trapped in a compromise, Elizabeth Bennet has no choice but to accept the proposal of a man she is not entirely sure she likes. On the advice of her sister, she begins to question all she has heard about Mr. Darcy.

When she realizes that she has been seriously misled about his character, she then begins to examine her own heart. What she finds there is unfamiliar. Could these strange feelings be the beginning of love as her aunt suggests? Is it possible that she can find happiness with her father’s choice?

You can find Her Father’s Choice at your favorite ebook retailer here.

Book Review

This is the most recent review showing for Her Father’s Choice. Thank you, Steve, for reading and reviewing this book. I’m so glad you enjoyed it, and it’s nice to know that I am not the only one who needed tissues. 🙂 (Yes, I often need tissues when writing poignant scenes.)

Something Extra

I deliberately attempt to find groups and pages to follow on Facebook that will add beauty and interest to my newsfeed both to brighten my day and to have things to share with those who follow my Facebook Page or are part of one of my groups.

One of the pages I followed this week was Bring Back Tea Time. This page is for a vintage/antique store. I shared a post from this page to my page this week. It was a grouping of teacups (the four across the top of the screenshot above) and asked which you would choose to have your tea in. I chose the cup with hollyhocks and blue trim because I thought that thinking about an imaginary garden where those hollyhocks grow would be a delightful thing to do while sipping some tea.

You can find Bring Back Tea Time’s store on the internet at this link and their Facebook page at this link

Now, what sort of teacup is best used when serving tea with a set down and a bit of scandalous story?

Neither Darcy nor Elizabeth or any other occupant of the room said a word.  The composed and calculating woman who stood and began to pour tea was not the woman any of them had come to know as Mrs. Bennet. And it seemed she was not yet done defending her daughter, for she looked at Lady Catherine and asked, “Do you prefer your tea with one sugar and no milk as your mother did or with milk and no sugar as your true father did?”

Lady Catherine’s eyes grew wide and her face blanched.  “I do not have time for tea.  I must continue on to London before the day is too far gone.”

[From Her Father’s Choice and one of my all-time favourite Mrs. Bennet scenes]

Have a good weekend! Be safe and well. (And maybe read a book 🙂 ) I’ll see you on Monday.

Leenie Brown

Leenie Brown fell in love with Jane Austen's works when she first read Sense and Sensibility followed immediately by Pride and Prejudice in her early teens. As the second of five daughters and an avid reader, she has always loved to see where her imagination takes her and to play with and write about the characters she meets along the way. In 2013, these two loves collided when she stumbled upon the world of Jane Austen Fan Fiction. A year later, in 2014, she began writing her own Austen-inspired stories and began publishing them in 2015. Leenie lives in Nova Scotia, Canada with her two teenage boys and her very own Mr. Brown (a wonderful mix of all the best of Darcy, Bingley and Edmund with healthy dose of the teasing Mr. Tillney and just a dash of the scolding Mr. Knightley).

  1. I love those cups. I’d have a hard time choosing just one, so I would have tea in all of them over time. LOL! I told my friends about your discount price. Hopefully, that will help. You have certainly been busy. I had forgotten that scene with Mrs. Bennet and Lady Catherine. I don’t mean to laugh but it was funny. Thanks for sharing it. Somehow it just fits with the picture of the tea cups. LA! You have a wicked sense of humor, Leenie. I love it. Blessings and stay safe and healthy.

    1. I’m glad you did laugh as it was humorous. I can just imagine Lady C hustling out of that sitting room quickly enough to make the feathers in her cap to blow in the breeze she created. 🙂 Thanks for sharing the the discount with your friends. “Many hands make light work.”
