The July 2022 Saturday Broadsheet

The Saturday Broadsheet, with all my writing life updates, is now available at the link at the bottom of this short post.

In this issue of the Broadsheet you will find:

  • Info about what is posting on my blog. (As if you didn’t know, right? LOL)
  • An excerpt from my current work in progress, His Father’s Last Gift
  • Info about the two books I have on sale for $0.99 this month, a couple of other books that have been reduced in price, and one boxset that is on sale for this weekend only.
  • A link to a multi-author promotion I am taking part in
  • And in the something fun section at the end of the newsletter you will find, a music video that has been paired with an excerpt from one of the books in the boxset I have on sale this weekend. (It features one of my all-time favourite troublemakers. ;))

Have a great weekend!

I hope you have time to read a book.

I’ll be back on Thursday with a new chapter of His Inconvenient Choice.

Period Drama Men // Sharp Dressed Man

When I was scrolling through my playlists on YouTube looking for a video to share today, this one just shouted Charles Edwards at me as I scrolled past it. So, I stopped, went back, and decided that yes, this song seemed to go well with a scene from his book where he’s helping a couple of young lads learn the skills needed to be a valet. The feel of the song seems to fit Charles as well since he is a rascal in the process of changing his ways but still very much willing to stroll along the borders of propriety.

All he wanted was a kiss. What he got was so much more.

Charles Edwards is no stranger to scandal. He lives an easy, carefree life, floating from one moment of pleasure to another. Or, at least, he did until one fateful night when two young ladies asked him to come to their aid. Since then, Charles has been hiding from society until his injuries heal, which is what he was attempting to do when one of those ladies – the one with the kissable lips – re-enters his life.

World Stand Still (The Tenors)

I love this song. It is truly one of my favourites. As I was listening to it and looking at a list of my books just last week, the one that seemed to match best with this song, especially the lyrics below, had to be…

I keep spinning around until you slow me down
You make me real, when you make the world stand still

and

I wouldn’t have believed it
‘Cause I never used to see it
You give this life meaning around me
When you make the world stand still

…Charles and Evelyn’s story. I think Charles is one of my most “spinning around” sorts of heroes until he meets Evelyn, and she shows him the life that is happening around him and that has more meaning than his current life does.

The few lines below are found in a scene where Charles admits (to his best friend, Henry Crawford) that he has fallen for Evelyn.

Charles: To Discover His Purpose is book 2 in my Other Pens series. This series is a sequel to Mansfield Park that follows Henry Crawford and his friends and relations as they find their happily ever afters. Charles Edwards is just one of the many original characters that are part of this series.

(And no, you don’t have to like Mansfield Park to like this series, although you may want to, at least, watch an adaptation or read a plot summary before beginning reading.)

For those following Charles’ story on Fridays, the quote above will show up in one of the chapters this Friday (Feb 12). 🙂

Music Monday: Christmas Ambiance

PUBLISHED TO YOUTUBE BY SERENE AMBIANCE ON NOVEMBER 30, 2020.

I’ve had several videos of fireplaces with Christmas instrumental music playing as I write lately. I picked this one because it is one of the shorter ones. (Some are up to eight or even eleven hours! I just pick up where I left off one day when I start the video again the next day. 🙂 )

Today, I am sharing a short excerpt from two books that have a specific location in common. So this post, like the video above, could be a longish one. 🙂

This first excerpt is from Two Days before Christmas.

December 2020 Saturday Broadsheet

Can you believe we are already at the end of the year? It’s been quite the year, hasn’t it? But before we bid farewell to 2020, let me tell you what I have been up to in my writing life this past month and what is on the horizon to happen (hopefully) before the year ends or just as the calendar turns.

Story Updates

Here are a few updates on stories I have been working on and what I am planning to work on next:

Christmas in Gracechurch Street:  This story was supposed to be on preorder today. It’s not – which fits for this story. It has not been where I wanted it to be the whole time I was writing it. I am a person who likes schedules and routine. This year has been one of working on flexibility, whether I wanted to work on it or not. 😀 However, all the edits should be done by the end of next week, and I have penciled in December 15 as the release day for this book.
